My reasons for homeschooling:
1. The opportunity to spend more time with my kids. This seems a natural extension of the attachment parenting style I ascribe to.
2. The freedom to incorporate our personal beliefs as part of our children's education instead of those taught by the pubic school system where we differ on certain issues.
3. The opportunity to customize my children's lessons to their learning styles in order to maximize their understanding.
4. The freedom for my children to learn in an environment free of peer pressure and mean spiritedness that is often seen in group learning situations.
5. Because I have taught my children since birth, I feel it is only natural for me to continue this process until they venture out into the world and find their own paths.
6. Because who wouldn't want to be taught by someone who loved them. After all, we have all had good and bad teachers. In the system, we have little control over the process. While there are many amazing teachers, there are also those who well, frankly shouldn't be teaching, but feel stuck there.
7. Flexibilty! We can take a day off if we need to, go to school in our jammies, or spend a little extra time on a subject that seems troublesome or maybe one that is interesting.
These are my basic reasons. I may add more over time just because I can. Wink!
