Looking for a New Year's Resolution?

Years ago at summer camp I took archery. It was pretty fun and I didn't do too bad. I think I even earned a Jr. Yeoman pin. As you know, we stood some distance from a target and aimed our arrows for the bullseye. I am not normally one to make New Year's resolutions, but as I think back to those days of archery, I realize that it's a good idea to have a target. After all, if there is no target, how would we know where to aim? So this year I am making some simple resolutions, call them goals if you will.

First off, I am going to work on being more diligent with reading and speaking Bible verses.

Next, I am going to start a fun thing called Project 365. I will be making a photo journal of my life by taking one photo each day for a year and journalling a bit each day.

I also would like to lose some weight this year, but I loathe diets. So instead, I am going to try to be more purposeful with my eating. I will think about what I eat and be sensitive to when I am full. I will not eat something just because it's in front of me or out of habit, like with my morning mocha. I was getting to where I would drink it out of habit instead of because I really wanted it each morning. I will let you know how this purposeful eating plan works out.

Another big goal for me this year is to publish my first Children's Storybook. I wrote it over Christmas break and am so excited!! I plan to have my cousin illustrate it and hope by next Christmas to have it available for purchase. This is all new and a bit scary for me, but I am determined not to let that stop me as things like this have so easily has in the past. I will keep you posted on this goal as I also plan to give away a few for free on my blog.

So, what are your goals for 2011? I would love to hear from you and get some further inspiration!

  1. Great goals! One of my resolutions this year is to get my pictures under control (I'm a full year behind on printing/labeling/putting into albums)!

  3. I know what you mean on that one. I have loads of photos in my computer, but haven't had the purchase of some new scrapbooks in the budget, so many are just posted on Fb and never printed... accept for the ones I send to the grandmas!
